Anti-Ragging Regulations in Colleges and Hostels

“Ragging” kabhi light fun ke naam pe start hota hai, lekin quickly humiliation, abuse, even violence tak pahunch sakta hai. Isliye colleges aur hostels ke liye anti-ragging rules ab optional nahi, mandatory hain.

Typical framework:

  • Freshers ko clear message: ragging illegal hai, consent ka excuse nahi chalega,
  • Seniors ko written undertaking,
  • Anti-ragging committees and squads, surprise checks,
  • Helpline numbers, anonymous complaint options,
  • Strict penalties – suspension, rustication, FIR, hostel expulsion.

Law ragging ko sirf “campus culture” nahi, harassment aur sometimes criminal offence treat karta hai. Verbal abuse, forced tasks, sexual jokes, physical punishments, social isolation – sab ragging ke scope me aa sakte hain.

Victims often fear retaliation, isliye institutions ko safe reporting system banana padta hai. Jo authorities complaint ignore kar deti hain, unpe bhi liability aa sakti hai.

Healthy seniors–juniors bonding possible hai, lekin mutual respect aur consent ke base pe, fear ke base pe nahi. Anti-ragging norms isi line ko clearly draw karne ki koshish karte hain.
