Public sector me ab fixed-term contracts zyada common ho rahe hain – 1 saal, 3 saal, project-based roles. In employees ki situation regular permanent staff se kaafi different hoti hai.
Contract clearly likhta hai ki employment specific period ke liye hai, automatically end ho jayega unless renewed. Normally, term end hone par continuation ka legal right nahi banta – bas jo salary/benefits contract me promised tha, wo mil jana chahiye.
Termination before contract-end bina valid reason ke problematic ho sakta hai; yahan natural justice principles (notice, hearing) aur compensation questions uth sakte hain, specially jab employer State ho. Arbitrary mid-term removal courts me challenge ho sakta hai.
Employees aksar long service ko basis bana ke “regularisation” demand karte hain. Courts kuch rare exceptional cases me relief dete hain, lekin general principle yehi hai ki backdoor regularisation wide scale pe allow nahi ki jaa sakti, warna recruitment rules meaningless ho jayenge.
Fixed-term job accept karte waqt hi realistic expectation set karna important hai – yeh launchpad ho sakta hai, permanent safety net nahi.
